Harvey Brown

Founder, CAP

Harvey is the founder and owner of Insight to Recovery; he is a Certified Addiction Professional and prior to Insight to Recovery Harvey worked as a Primary Therapist and Program Coordinator for a Renown Treatment Program both focusing on mental health and substance abuse. Harvey has had an established and respected name in the recovery community professionally and personally for a combined 36 years.


Julie Brown


Julie Brown is the Co-Founder of Insight to Recovery. She has a degree in Family Studies/Community Development and a Minor In Psychology. For a number of years Julie has worked as a Family Service Counselor for the Department of Children and Families. She has gained a wealth of experience working at a Residential Eating Disorder Treatment Program in the Admission Department for 7 years. Julie is a member of her own 12 step program and is actively involved in developing a foundation that provides education, support, and resources to families whose loved ones are struggling with addiction.


Marc Sussman

Chief Financial Officer

Marc is a CPA with over twenty years of managerial experience in healthcare finance. Marc started his accounting career as a senior auditor for the accounting firm Ernst & Young, LLP in the healthcare practice area and has since held several managerial and executive positions in the private sector including CFO with Diagnostic Testing Group in Miami and a Director of Finance at the University Of Miami Miller School Of Medicine. Marc currently resides in the Ft. Lauderdale area with his two sons Jonathan and Brian.


Carolyn Fisher

Primary Therapist, LCSW

Carolyn earned her Bachelors of Science in Psychology in 1993 from Northern Kentucky University and her Master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. Carolyn has worked in the mental health field for over 14 years utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Rational Emotive-Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing Techniques with a strengths-based approach. Carolyn has also supervised substance abuse programs (both agency-based and school-based services); conducted clinical research; and been trained in suicide prevention and crisis intervention. As a therapist here at Insight to Recovery, Carolyn enjoys working with individuals in their journey of recovery through both intensive individual and group therapy sessions, as well as an outpatient group facilitator. Working hand in hand with clients, their families and sober support networks helps to facilitate a comprehensive network of support for our clients, empowering them on their roads to recovery.

Kara Boehm

HR and Billing Coordinator

As our HR and Billing coordinator Kara holds an intricate roll working directly with staff and advocating for clients to receive the treatment they need and deserve. Kara joined the Insight team in March 2015 offering experience, complete dedication and sound direction. Kara’s passion for helping the addict and alcoholic comes from seeing the recovery process change the lives of many, from individuals in the community, family, and friends. With the drive to implement positive change Kara brings great opportunity for both the client and program at Insight to Recovery.


Eddie Rodriguez

Medical Officer and Compliance

Eddie has experience in fields including financial services and the public service sector. His passion to want to help others and his personal recovery journey has brought him to the substance abuse field. Eddie has been in the field of substance abuse for 7 ½ years and started working as a behavioral health technician. He also has experience in operations including halfway house management. Eddie started at Insight as a behavioral health technician supervisor and now works as the medical officer ensuring that clients have the appropriate medical care necessary for jump-starting their own recovery journey. His compassion and desire for helping others gives Eddie the motivation and encouragement needed to fulfill his day-to-day tasks, and provide exceptional service to both clients and staff at Insight to Recovery.


Troy Garr

Operations Manager

Troy is Insight’s Director of Operations. He works closely with all departments to ensure the facility’s building is in compliance and provides a safe environment for both clients and staff. Troy has over 30 years of experience ranging from directing and owning his own businesses to event planning and coordination. Troy uses these skills to facilitate Insight’s Family Program which provides clients their families the opportunity to learn about the disease of addiction as well as how to help their loved ones and support them through this difficult process. He also coordinates safe and fun activities for Insight’s clients which helps instill a healthy mindset wth the clients that recovery can be fun and enjoyable. Troy has also built a strong outreach program for Insight’s Alumni providing them with important aftercare support and in turn helping prevent relapse.
